According to the lawsuit filed in the Alameda Superior Court, AxleHire, Inc., committed acts of unfair competition in violation of the California Unfair Competition Law, Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 17200, et seq. (the "UCL"), by "engaging in a company-wide policy, practice and procedure which failed to correctly classify PLAINTIFF and the CALIFORNIA CLASS Members as employees."

Additionally, the lawsuit alleges DEFENDANT failed to reimburse employees for required business expenses. Cal. Lab. Code § 2802 expressly states that "an employer shall indemnify his or her employee for all necessary expenditures or losses incurred by the employee in direct consequence of the discharge of his or her duties."
