Attorney Anabel Rosa Honored with Inaugural "North Carolina Lawyers Weekly" Diversity & Inclusion Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec. 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Anabel Rosa, attorney and shareholder with the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, has been awarded the 2019 Diversity & Inclusion Award by "North Carolina Lawyers Weekly." This is the inaugural year for the award, and Ms. Rosa will be among the first group bestowed with the honor, which recognizes attorneys and firms who significantly advance diversity, inclusion, and the dignity of all people in the legal profession across the Carolinas, and in communities where exceptional legal work impacts justice for all.

Her nomination for the award came from her deep dedication to the community and her involvement in diversity initiatives. She is a prominent, visible figure in the Hispanic and Latinx communities and practices personal injury law at James Scott Farrin. She was recently reappointed to the Governor's Advisory Council on Hispanic/Latino Affairs and chairs the Durham Mayor's Hispanic-Latino Committee. Ms. Rosa is a member of her children's PTA Diversity Committee and has volunteered her time as an ESL instructor for many years. Additionally, she is an advocate with Durham ESL, and with REALDurham, a poverty reduction initiative. Finally, she serves on a subcommittee in the Partnership for a Healthy Durham supporting proper healthcare for immigrants and refugees and their families.

Anabel is a member of the NC Advocates for Justice and was a steering committee member for their Diversity Committee, which recently held its first conference. She is unsurprisingly an important member of the James Scott Farrin Latino Affairs Committee. She frequently volunteers for the events it organizes and participates in the firm's sponsorship of El Centro Hispano, an organization dedicated to strengthening the Latino community within the Triangle. Anabel is often sought out by local media for her views on issues related to the community, and was a recipient of the 2018 Triangle Business Journal "Women in Business" Award and the NCAJ Order of Service Award from 2017–2019.
