NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The New York chapter of Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO), the world's leading peer-to-peer network of successful business leaders today, announced Tania Speaks, a student of Hofstra University, as the champion of the New York City regional qualifying rounds of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA).

GSEA is EO's premier global competition for students who own and operate a business while attending college or university. The qualifier competition hosted by EO New York this year reviewed a dozen applications, with 6 finalists competing for the regional title. The New York regional competition took place in Manhattan on Monday, November 4, 2019 in two competitions; the semi-finals competition was held at the Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship at Baruch College (55 Lexington Avenue), and the finals competition was held at New York University's Leslie eLab (16 Washington Place). Students competed against one another and were judged by prominent entrepreneurs and active EO members across the greater New York City area. Tania Speaks now makes her way to the U.S. Nationals competition being held on February 10-11, 2020 in Redwood City, CA (Silicon Valley), and in partnership with Startup Grind.

Sharing her excitement about the win, Tania Speaks said, "I had an amazing experience at the GSEA competition. I met incredible people and made valuable connections! I am looking forward to competing at Nationals, representing the greater NY GSEA community, young student entrepreneurs, and in solidarity with others that are or have been bullied."

EO New York President Ameen Nassiri notes, "One of the most rewarding experiences I have had is getting involved with GSEA. Although GSEA is to inspire and provide a platform for the incredible Student Entrepreneurs, I am the one that walks away truly inspired and in astonishment of the entrepreneurial ventures and technologies these students have created. GSEA is a Global Competition for university students and every student competitor is a winner! If you want to experience something that is undeniably magical, get involved with GSEA!"

The New York regional competition also provides aspiring collegiate entrepreneurs the opportunity to compete with their peers in the National GSEA competition, and the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards. Participants in the GSEA competition are college or university students and entrepreneurs that are primarily responsible for a business that has been operational for at least six consecutive months.
