Crowne Plaza White Plains Partners with The Arc Westchester on an Artistic Journey

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Oct. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Crowne Plaza White Plains was honored to partner with The Arc Westchester to display an exhibition of artwork created by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The installation, which is comprised of artwork from the nonprofit's Gallery 265 program, showcases each artist's distinctive appreciation of color and composition, while at the same time offering a window into their unique artistic personality. While the work evokes a range of diverse feelings and emotions, the collection also shares a common bond: they represent the imaginative and original contributions individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities make to the greater community.

"Crowne Plaza White Plains is pleased to showcase the great art work of The Arc Westchester's Gallery 265 in one of our new, renovated meeting spaces in the lobby," said Monika Henry, general manager, Crowne Plaza White Plains. "These intricate pieces of artwork adorn the walls in our 'nook' space; our new, high tech, Wi-Fi equipped area, which is an ideal place to hold your next informal business or social gathering. Open to the public, we encourage you to come check out these beautiful pieces. They will be on display through the end of October, which is National Disability Employment Awareness Month."

Many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities use art to enhance their self-esteem, individuality and creative expression. The Arc Westchester's Gallery 265 proudly celebrates these original works of art. These images are part of a permanent collection that have showcased the walls of many Westchester businesses and organizations as part of the organization's traveling exhibit.

"We are thrilled to have this kind of partnership with Crowne Plaza to exhibit the talent of the individuals in our program," said Nancy Patota, executive director of The Arc Westchester Foundation. "The Arc Westchester, celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, is the largest provider of programs and services for people with developmental disabilities in Westchester County. Gallery 265, a very special program, allows us to give our participants an opportunity to showcase their talent and artistic ability in the community. For those who are interested in displaying some of our artwork in their place of business, we urge you to contact us."
