FINDLAY, Ohio, Aug. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- g2 revolution's (g2's) recycling center in northern Ohio has been certified at the "Platinum" level for its sustainable practices by the Green Business Bureau (GBB). This is the highest of GBB's three tiers of sustainability certification and only 10 percent of companies seeking certification will achieve this status. Certified companies receive a digital GBB eco-label which links to a company profile outlining all green initiatives completed.
g2 has partnered with retail chains since 2008 to divert materials from landfill or incineration such as returned or damaged consumer chemical products and packaging. One major benefit to retailers is the reduction of hazardous waste generation as these materials are reused as-is or are recycled into Second Life™ products.
"This certification journey with the Green Business Bureau was an opportunity to align and document our core sustainability values within GBB's framework," explained Scott DeMuth, president of g2.
The sustainability team at g2 worked on and documented environmentally related initiatives totaling more than 400 points to qualify for the Platinum seal. Some of the largest completed initiatives included:
- Improving vehicle fleet fuel efficiency
- Changing facility infrastructure and supplies
- Performing a comprehensive solid waste assessment, including quantifying all outgoing waste streams
"To be seen as a legitimate recycler, you truly have to walk the sustainability talk," concluded DeMuth. "I'm proud to say we chose this route with the GBB to demonstrate our commitment."
