Cato Reports June Same-Store Sales Up 8%

CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cato Corporation CATO today reported sales of $76.6 million for the five weeks ended July 6, 2019, a 5% increase from sales of $72.9 million for the five weeks ended July 7, 2018.  Same-store sales for the five weeks ended July 6, 2019 were up 8% compared to the five weeks ended July 7, 2018. 

Sales for the twenty-two weeks ended July 6, 2019 were $380.7 million, a 1% decrease from sales of $386.2 million for the twenty-two weeks ended July 7, 2018. The Company's year-to-date same-store sales increased 1% compared to last year.

"June same-store stores exceeded our expectations," stated John Cato, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, "however, we remain cautiously optimistic."

During the month of June, the Company closed one store in St. Mary's, Georgia.  As of July 6, 2019, the Company operated 1,301 stores in 31 states, compared to 1,350 stores in 33 states as of July 7, 2018.
