NEW YORK, June 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, StudySync®, a leading developer of the most engaging, socially connected, and rigorous academic learning products for grades 6-12, announced an innovative content partnership with media organization Global Press. Through the partnership, StudySync will incorporate news coverage from local journalists in the least-covered parts of the world into its SyncBlasts™ for Social Studies and SyncBlasts™ for Science products as part of its ongoing mission to bring relevant, high-quality content to middle and high school students.

Global Press exists to create a more just and informed world by training local journalists around the globe. These journalists are trained by Global Press Institute and then employed by the Global Press Journal, an award-winning, multi-lingual news publication, to produce ethical, accurate everyday news coverage. Their news is syndicated globally via Global Press News Service to reach more than 20 million people every month. Global Press is dedicated to reinventing both the craft and business of international journalism.

"We are thrilled to partner with StudySync to build the next generation of news readers," says Cristi Hegranes, the CEO of Global Press and Publisher of Global Press Journal. "Bringing Global Press Journal into the classroom is a tremendous opportunity to change the narrative about parts of the world that are typically only covered in terms of war, poverty, disaster and disease. Global Press Journal exposes students to stories written by talented journalists around the world, advances global narrative change and showcases the power of diversity in journalism."

SyncBlasts is a journalistic, educational media product for the next generation of readers and thinkers. SyncBlasts provides daily articles written at multiple Lexile® levels that ignite the imaginations of students and teachers by making meaningful connections between Social Studies and Science topics and today's world. The program offers a variety of rich multimedia including original audio and video resources such as "The Point" news show, preview videos, and multimedia explainers that engage students in topics that are relevant to their studies and their everyday lives. Teachers leverage the power of social learning in a safe, mediated environment that uses a library of articles produced by StudySync and real journalists throughout the world through partnerships with trusted organizations such as Global Press, Reuters, and News Literacy Project. Scaffolded instruction ensures that English learners and approaching grade-level learners can access every lesson.

"Today's students live in a complex world where they're surrounded by a constant flow of information," said Robert Romano, CEO of StudySync. "As educators, we want their voices to not only be heard but to be steeped in factual information – not memes and misinformation. Our collaboration with Global Press is being done with an eye toward making sure we bring students ethical and accurate stories from the every part of the world so they can further develop their voices and the critical thinking, listening, and writing skills necessary to succeed."

ABOUT GLOBAL PRESS
Global Press exists to create a more just and informed world by training and employing local female journalists to produce ethical, accurate news coverage from the world's least-covered places. Global Press is working to solve two of the most entrenched problems in journalism — its lack of diversity across geographies, race, class and gender; and the absence of ethical, revenue-generating business models that create healthy and sustainable news organizations. Global Press operates a professional training program that offers local women the opportunity to learn the principled practice of professional journalism. All training graduates are offered long-term employment at Global Press Journal, where they work within a robust editorial structure to produce integrity-rich, accurate journalism that features local voices, deep context and nuanced analysis. Stories are published in local language and English and widely disseminated across the world via Global Press News Service. To date, Global Press has trained and employed 250+ female journalists who work in our 42 independent news bureaus in more than 20 countries across the world. Global Press news reaches an estimated 20 million readers per month via both direct and syndicated channels.
