Winners of the 2018 Emerald Sustainability Awards Announced

This select group of organizations is driving innovation, awareness, and education throughout their supply chains, their stakeholders and their greater communities. These top four "mission partners" include McCann Worldgroup, The Blackstone Group, Canteen LA, and The Royal Bank of Canada.

McCann Worldgroup, a marketing and advertising firm, was awarded the Emerald Sustainability Award for their elimination of plastic disposables in their café and pantries. They are also reducing the use of plastic bottles in their facility. By using Emerald's Tree-Free™ and Plastic-Free compostable disposables and LED lighting, McCann is actively working to improve health and wellness for the environment as well as for their employees and clients.

One of the largest alternative investment firms in the world, The Blackstone Group, was presented the Emerald Sustainability Award for the strides they've made in adopting Sustainable Practices. They are utilizing the Emerald Tree-Free™, Plastic-Free disposables solution for pantries and facilities and have accrued a very impressive Environmental Impact. The Firm has also reduced their food waste by donating extra food to local non-profit organizations.

Canteen Garden Grove, a key Emerald Licensed Dealer covering the greater Los Angeles area, has been presented the Emerald Sustainability Award for distribution. Along with strong sales growth and commitment to Emerald's mission, Canteen Garden Grove offers product packaging made from renewable or compostable resources, recycles all warehouse boxes, and is utilizing LED lighting technology in their vending machines along with motion sensors that reduce power consumption during periods of inactivity. Canteen Garden Grove participates in the TerraCycle recycling program with Flavia, a hot beverage company. TerraCycle provides companies with a location to send their waste so that it is properly restored and renewed for a "second life".

The Royal Bank of Canada received the Emerald Sustainability Award for their efforts to minimize their consumption of resources, including energy, paper and water, and generation of waste and emissions. RBC is providing clients with innovative, practical and cost-effective financial products and services to promote environmentally sustainable choices. RBC has moved to utilizing Emerald's Tree-Free™ and Plastic-Free disposables throughout their foodservice sites in New York and New Jersey while also eliminating all plastic water bottles!

McCann Worldgroup, The Blackstone Group, Canteen LA, and The Royal Bank of Canada had substantial environmental savings in 2018. A total of 1,233 trees, 206,116 pounds of landfill waste, 87,383 pounds of plastic, 253,182 gallons of water, were saved and 772,482 pounds of FSC paper was used with Emerald's Sustainability Program.
