GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 6, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Crowned Free is excited to announce its Fashion Show on Wednesday, April 12, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Clearwater Place in downtown Grand Rapids.

Cost of tickets for the Fashion Show start at $20. A portion of all ticket sales will go to help support the Pillow Program, a sewing program that runs through Crowned Free's partnership with Wedgwood Christian Services that teaches local human trafficking survivors the trade of sewing.

In addition to giving back to organizations, Crowned Free supports survivors by creating employment opportunities for rescued women. Forty-five percent of Crowned Free's products are made and signed by survivors from all over the world, including jewelry, women's tank tops, children's t-shirts, pillows and accessories.

"We truly believe this event will not only spread awareness but provide a catalyst to come together and make a difference! We are creating a movement that's making a difference in those who have been trafficked," said Crowned Free's Founder, Heidi VanderWal.

Guest speaker, Theresa Flores, is a human trafficking survivor. As a 15-year-old girl in a well-to-do white suburban neighborhood in Detroit, Theresa survived two years of being trafficked to men in their 20's and 30's. She was given as a reward to men in this criminal ring when they did a good job. She was an avid track runner, an older sister to three younger brothers, and looked like an all-American girl. No one, not even her parents, knew she was being trafficked for sex. Twenty years later, Theresa is speaking out on the reality of human trafficking in the U.S. She is the author of The Slave Across the Street, a USA Today and Wall Street Journal best seller, and The Sacred Bath. Theresa has been invited as a guest on The 700 Club, The Today Show, and, MSNBC's Sex Slaves — The Teen Trade. She has also been featured on Nightline, America's Most Wanted, and For the Record as a sex slave survivor. Her book, The Slave Across the Street has been on the Wall Street Journal and USA Today's Best Selling List several times.

Crowned Free is a women's direct sales clothing, jewelry and accessory company whose mission is to change the lives of those who have been rescued from human trafficking. Crowned Free employs survivors who create approximately 45% of their products both here in the US and throughout the world. They also invest 15% of their profits into organizations that focus on restoring and rebuilding those who have been rescued from human trafficking.
