American Foundation of Savoy Orders: Now Accepting Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarships Applications for Humanities and International Studies for 2019-2020

NEW YORK, March 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Foundation of Savoy Orders, Incorporated has announced that applications are currently being accepted for the Savoy Foundation's Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year. The scholarships are named in honor of Cindy and Mark Pigott, who established the scholarship endowment fund in 2010. The deadline for applications is May 15, 2019.

The Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarship awards seek to encourage and support United States' college and university students' education in the humanities and arts, with a preference for studies in Italy; and, in international studies for grantees expected to participate in the Savoy Foundation's role as a Non-Governmental Organization in Roster Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

The scholarship program is administered by the Board of Directors of the American Foundation of Savoy Orders and its Scholarship Selection Committee. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability or national origin.

The Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarships Fund will award three scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year in the amount of $2,500 each in two areas of discipline: Humanities & Fine Arts and International Studies. Three $2,500 scholarships, based on achievement and potential, will be awarded for the 2019-2020 academic year. Undergraduate and graduate students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States, who are enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university, who have a major in the Humanities & Fine Arts or International Studies, and have proven financial need and a minimum academic grade point average of 3.00 or its equivalent will be eligible for consideration for the scholarship. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate or graduate applicants must be enrolled full time at an accredited college or university and have a major in the Humanities & Fine Arts or International Studies. The scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate students who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Please see the scholarship guidelines for additional information.

NOTIFICATION:

The American Foundation of Savoy Orders, Incorporated will notify selected 2019-2020 Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarship recipients by July 30, 2019.

APPLICATION MATERIALS:

All of the following must be completed and received on or before May 15, 2019, in order to be considered for the Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarship. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Application Form: Please submit a completed and signed application form.

Transcript of Grades: Please provide the most recent official transcript of your grades. If a grant is awarded, we will need an updated transcript for the Spring Semester of 2019.

Letters of Recommendation: Please submit two (2) letters of recommendation from professors who know you and are familiar with your academic performance.

Enrollment Certification: Please send us your current Enrollment Certification from your college or university. If a grant is awarded, we will need an updated Enrollment Certification that corresponds to the academic year for which funding is granted.

Essay: Please attach to the application a brief essay (between 250-500 words) on how the scholarship will help you develop your academic and career goals.
