PHILADELPHIA, March 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Jobless rates are down considerably in most states, and the unemployment rate for many demographics are at or near historic lows. With the labor market being so tight, companies are looking for ways to gain a competitive edge in attracting the best and brightest available job seekers. One group of skilled workers that continue to be in huge demand are veterans. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for all veterans through the end of January was 3.7%. Veterans are in high demand because of the skills, training, education, work ethic, and experience they bring to the civilian workforce. The challenge many companies face in recruiting veterans is figuring out the best place to find them. More than 40 leading companies have teamed with Veteran Recruiting to host a virtual career fair for veterans, service members, guard/reservists, and military spouses on March 27.

"The virtual career fairs have proven to be an easy, effective, and fun way to connect high-impact veterans and the companies who are passionate about hiring them. We are honored to bring such a great group of veteran-friendly companies together with the thousands of veterans who will attend the virtual career fair" said Kevin O'Brien, Veteran Recruiting.

The group of companies that will attend the virtual job fair include CVS Health, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Exelon, Pfizer, Travelers, Penske, Highmark Health, First Data, TTEC, Waste Management, Santander, CenturyLink, Anthem, Bright Horizons, Grainger, General Dynamics, Spectrum Healthcare Resources, MetLife, MGM Resorts International, Starbucks, Unisys, McDonald's, Peacehealth, The Home Depot, Walden Security, Windstream, Carter's Osh Kosh, Academy Bank, Olympus, Drury Hotels, TricorBraun, GAP Solutions, Salient CRGT, Radial, Edwards, Patterson Companies, Conduent, Sasol, CROSSMARK, Cognosante, Avis Budget Group, FirstBank, St. Lukes.

The Veteran Recruiting Virtual Career Fairs have proven to be an excellent way for our recruiters to engage with the military community. Rather than attending one job fair at a time, the virtual platform allows us to connect with veterans from all over the world in just a few hours" Stated Jim McMahon, Military & Veteran Talent Acquisition, Travelers.

The virtual career fair allows job seekers to research companies, view and apply to jobs, chat with recruiters, and both sides can participate from anywhere with an internet connection. The March 27 event is scheduled to take place between 1-3 PM EST. Job seekers are encouraged to register early to start receiving email alerts about the jobs available with the companies attending.
