The Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) conference, March 28 to 30, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is highlighting the impact of females in the field with help from five esteemed speakers. One of those five keynotes includes Dr. Dawn Beyer, Senior Fellow at Lockheed Martin.

Beyer will discuss "The Art of Cutting Glass," on Saturday, March 30. She will share her unconventional path to becoming a highly coveted Senior Fellow, which is recognized as the most experienced, successful, technical, elite group in a corporation. The chances of becoming a vice president of a large corporation are greater than becoming a Senior Fellow. This is the highest level of excellence in the individual contributor technical career path.

At Lockheed Martin, she is the Cyber Fellows Action Team chair. She engages in industry exchanges while co-chairing the National Defense Industrial Association Cybersecurity Division. In her over 29 years of experience, Beyer has covered information security, security engineering, systems engineering, risk assessments, policy development and execution, information assurance, military intelligence and operations, cybersecurity and strategy. She provides consultation for research and development, proposal programs, and operations and maintenance teams. She also mentors, trains and leads engineers.

Beyer has her Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in Information Systems. She is a retired Air Force Intelligence Officer with 24 years of service, which included systems security manager, computer systems security officer, communications security manager, operations security manager and emissions security manager. Beyer is a member of the INCOSE Systems Security Engineering Working Group.

WiCyS is a unique conference that focuses on recruiting, retaining, inspiring and advancing women in cybersecurity careers while also including students, educators, industry, government, military and research organizations.
