HAGERSTOWN, Md. (PRWEB) March 15, 2019

Horizon Goodwill Industries GetOnBoard! job readiness program partnered with Hagerstown Community College and Allegany College of Maryland in Cumberland, MD, and Hagerstown, MD to prepare Get Onboard! Participants to earn their National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) and improve their chances at obtaining better career opportunities. These services will be available at no cost to the participant.

The assessment is based on situations in the everyday workplace in three areas: Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents. Within the evaluation, the test takers will learn about the different skill levels based on the assessment, and how they are matched and aligned with the skill levels of employers. They will also discover professional skill levels that are determined by a job profile that works with an individual company. The subject matter experts will evaluate the Work Keys scores needed to be successful in a given position.

The Cumberland, MD location will have their first class graduate on Friday, March 15, 2019. The Hagerstown, MD location kicked off their first Work Keys class March 14th with a projected graduation date of Friday, March 22, 2019.

Brooke Grossman Director of Work Force Development, of Horizon Goodwill, says, "we are beyond thrilled to be working with Hagerstown Community College and Allegany College of Maryland to offer access to the NCRC Work Keys assessment and certification during Horizon Goodwill's Get Onboard! job readiness program. This training and credential are vital pieces of the puzzle to helping the un/underemployed residents of Washington and Allegany Counties compete in the job market."

As the program continues HGI, HCC and ACM will be able to analyze the data from the students that graduate with the NCRC credentialing to see if it contributes to the community's overall advancement to offer a workforce that is well-educated and trained.
