La Petite École Hits Five-Year Milestone

PITTSFORD, N.Y., Jan. 2, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Founder, President, Entrepreneur and Director of Education for La Petite École, Kari Maaraba, known as Madame Kari by her students and parents, a former Pharmaceutical Representative from Montreal, Quebec and Journalism student of Sorbonne University, Paris, France was driven by a passion to strive for success at a young age, she formed La Petite École (LPE) after researching the upstate, NY International education market where she resides, she realized there was a need for introducing foreign language to kids in Rochester, after gauging interest across the various family, friends and community groups she trusts, well, she found her niche!

Research shows, kids introduced to diverse foreign languages at a young age tend to thrive more across broader educational horizons they experience as they progress through life.

Madame Kari took a chance, planted her seeds and opened up her first center, La Petite École (The little French School) in an inaugural first-year program that began September, 2014.

What differentiates this little French school is educational curriculum, prestige and sophistication; what's unique about it, is affordability, flexibility and advanced level of French education that kids from ages two through five receive. While programs like this may exist and can cost a fortune in top cities across the country, in Rochester it is offered at a fraction of the costs one may expect. Kids who otherwise were never exposed to a second language, graduate the program, and enter their local kindergarten speaking and understanding the fundamentals of a second language.

This is no ordinary pre-school this is one that teaches kids: Culture, Language-Arts, Linguistics, Language Skills, Crafts, Activities and general play in a safe and healthy environment – taught all in native Parisian French with a respect for care and fun emphasizing a disciplined approach.

"When I first had the idea for this program, I was confident it would thrive across the Rochester community, because it is a great community filled with diversity and culture. I thought, in this day and age pre-school should not be day-care. It should provide kids the opportunity to build confidence, self-esteem and help them gain an appetite for learning more. Kids need to be introduced to different styles, dialect and culture, I found a market for this type of pre-school and I took a chance." States Madame Kari

After opening its inaugural class in September 2014 with six students, La Petite École has now grown to full capacity for its 2018/2019 morning program and has added more space that houses a playful GYM area. La Petite École is a private pre-school and operates under the same school schedule as Pittsford School District.
"Kari has vowed a genuine and unconditional love to my children in addition to being an exceptional educator. It was a revelation for us as parents and furthermore her qualities offered us a peace without price." France Gauthier, Parent.

About La Petite Ecole, Inc.
La Petite École offers a great variety of cultural, artistic and sporting activities as personal development is considered to be as important as academic excellence. We believe in the total development of the child on all levels, physical, social, emotional and intellectual. More importantly, we want children to love learning.

The objective of the French educational system is to enable students to:

  • Express themselves in everyday situations (introducing themselves, greeting people, talking about their hobbies, expressing their feelings and opinions, asking and giving information, finding their way, talking about past events or projects).
  • Understand words and sentences in simple texts, understand simple instructions, understand and participate in short conversations on topics of everyday life.

From experience, we have found that children starting their language learning at age 2, 3, 4 or 5 are more successful than children starting at 8 or 9. At this young age they are very receptive to new sounds, which become familiar very quickly. They are uninhibited and quickly become confident and at ease with the foreign language. For these reasons, this program contains lots of stories, songs and games. Therefore, children learn the language just like young French children. These are activities they will enjoy and repeat over and over, absorbing language as they "play".
