Year to Date Net Income Increases 88% from the Prior Year

U & I Financial Corp. UNIF, the holding company for UniBank, today reported year to date net income of $3.5 million or $0.64 per share for the quarter ending September 30, 2018, as compared to $1.9 million or $0.37 per share for the year earlier period. The year to date net income increased $1.6 million or 88% from the prior year.

As compared to September 30, 2017, total assets increased by $56.0 million (23%) to $296.1 million in 2018, driven by both loans growth of $32.4 million (19%) to $199.5 million, and deposits growth of $37.5 million (19%) to $237.7 million.

2018 Third Quarter Highlights

Total assets grew 23% to $296.1 million as compared to $240.1 million a year ago.

Total loans, net of provision, grew 19% to $199.5 million as compared to $167.1 million a year ago.

Total deposits grew 19% to $237.7 million as compared to $200.2 million a year ago.

Net income year to date grew 88% to $3.5 million as compared to $1.9 million one year ago.

Net interest income year to date grew 21% to $8.1 million as compared to $6.7 million one year ago.

Net interest income for the quarter of $2.9 million grew 23% as compared to $2.3 million one year ago, and 3% or $87 thousand as compared to $2.8 million in the second quarter 2018.

Net interest margin was 4.23% for the quarter as compared to 4.13% one year ago.

Gain on sale of SBA loans was $1.5 million year to date as compared to $311 thousand a year ago.

Return on average equity for the quarter was 13.08% as compared to 6.13% a year ago.

Return on average assets for the quarter was 1.88% as compared to 1.00% a year ago.

Nonperforming assets to total assets was 0.49% as compared to 0.64% a year ago.

The efficiency ratio (noninterest expense divided by revenue) was 54.69% for the quarter as compared to 66.80% a year ago.
