TORONTO, Sept. 20, 2018 /CNW/ - Startup Fashion Week (SFW) is making its triumphant return to Toronto this October on the heels of a sold out, three-day event in Montreal earlier this summer. Also hosting the runway event this year, is Toronto's television host and radio personality, none other than Devo Brown.

The Toronto event, takes place Oct. 15-19. This year's SFW will include an invite-only Designer Dinner followed by a Media Launch/Opening Party, Business of Fashion Conference, Gender and Fashion Forum and Runway Show finale. The highlight for this year is a focus on Gender & Fashion. To support this, Pride TO Festival Director Collin Joseph is scheduled to walk the runway. "As the executive director of this event, I think it's important to create a dialogue around Fashion & Gender" says Jodi Goodfellow, SFW's founder.

Now in its fifth year, SFW has made an enviable name for itself in two of Canada's most prominent fashion markets cultivating a unique platform to support fashion and tech startups. This platform brings together creative, educational and mentoring opportunities for designers from coast-to-coast trying to break into the industry.

This year Startup Fashion Week™ had more than 130 applications from across Canada to partake in both Toronto and Montreal's runway shows and SWF is proud to present 11 candidates in Toronto this October.
