Media Advisory - The President of the African Development Bank (ADB) in Montreal on Monday, September 17; a 1 billion US$ investment to be announced Tuesday

MONTRÉAL, Sept. 16, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Dr. Akinwubi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (ADB), begins a tour of Canada in Montreal Monday morning. He will then be travelling to Ottawa, Toronto, and Calgary. During his stay, he will announce a major investment resulting from an innovative agreement between the ADB and private investors.

Monday, in Montreal, he will be the keynote speaker, on the importance of empowering women to participate in the economy, at an event hosted by FinDev Canada at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, from 12:00 to 1:30 pm. He will then travel to Ottawa for meetings with several ministers.

Dr. Adesina will also meet investors in Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary, to invite them to the African Investment Forum that will take place in Johannesburg, November 7–9.

Announcing a major investment

On Tuesday, September 18, in Ottawa, the ADB, the European Commission and three private investor groups will officially sign an agreement leading to a 1 billion US$ impact investment for projects and infrastructure in the five regions of Africa.
