OTTAWA, Sept. 14, 2018 /CNW/ - On September 13th, 2018, members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's (RCMP) Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) in Ottawa arrested a 41 year old female from Ottawa, in accordance with Hoax – Terrorist Activity, Uttering Threats, and False Information as per the Criminal Code of Canada.

In May 2018 city of Ottawa officials received a letter indicating that a potential terrorist attack was going to take place. The letter indicated that federal government buildings located in the Lebreton Flats and Tunney's Pasture area in Ottawa were going to be subject to a terrorist attack. As a result of this letter, an investigation was conducted with the assistance of the Ottawa Police Service.

The subject has been released on conditions and will appear at the Ottawa Court House on October 11, 2018.

"As Canada's national police force, the RCMP works with its partners to ensure the comprehensive and timely response to any alleged terrorist criminal activity and national security criminal investigations both at home and abroad" stated RCMP Superintendent Peter Lambertucci, Officer in charge of Ottawa INSET.

We encourage the public to remain vigilant and to report any information on terrorism or related suspicious activities to the National Security Information Network at 1-800-420-5805 or by contacting the police in their community.
