HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (PRWEB) September 14, 2018

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on September 11, 2018, Kanuga Conferences Inc. welcomed with open arms and an eagerness to help, 251 residents, staff, family members, and 17 pets of the Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community from Charleston, SC. They arrived in Hendersonville, NC ahead of Hurricane Florence's impending impact on their coastal home.

Staff members of both Kanuga and Bishop Gadsden rose to the occasion expanding their daily shifts and day-to-day responsibilities to ensure that all guests were comfortable and cared for from the moment that they arrived.

"One of our core values is service and I'm extremely proud of how our team has gone above and beyond to deliver excellent service under unexpected circumstances," said Jimmy Haden, Vice President for Mission at Kanuga. "We are also very grateful that we could provide a safe place for the residents and staff of Bishop Gadsden, along with their family members."

In preparation for the arrival of Bishop Gadsden, Kanuga arranged extra food and supplies, made necessary adjustments to accommodate all residents, and coordinated activities for the children of the Bishop Gadsden staff. At the same time, Bishop Gadsden began their evacuation process 72-hours prior to their arrival at Kanuga, arranging four motor coaches, two 17-passenger buses, a U-Haul, and all staffing and equipment needed for the journey as well as for the unknown duration of their stay.

"The evacuation of an entire retirement community is a very difficult undertaking for both residents and staff. Planning is key to a successful execution, and we believe we do that well at Bishop Gadsden. The relocation site is a critical part of that plan. Having Kanuga as our place of refuge is as good as it gets, due to both the beauty and convenience of its physical facilities, as well as the mission and service of their incredible staff. It makes all the difference," states C. William Trawick, President and CEO of Bishop Gadsden.
