Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has introduced a modular drawer organization system that can be customized to fit tool, craft and desk drawers of almost any size.

The Rockler Lock-Align Drawer Organizer System features interlocking tray sections, bins and dividers that enable users to construct a grid of compartments tailored to fit both the drawer and its contents. The tray sections are made from synthetic rubber, so they offer protection for tool edges and can easily be cut to size.

"Having to dig through a drawer to find the right tool or bit is an exercise in frustration and a waste of time," said Steve Krohmer, Rockler's vice president of product development. "Not everyone is a natural at organization, but the Lock-Align System makes it simple, with cut-to-fit tray sections and easy-to-configure components."

Available in single and double widths, the tray sections interlock side by side to form channels that fit the bins and dividers. Tray sections are 13" long by 1-1/2" high and can be lined up end to end or trimmed with regular scissors to fit any drawer that's at least 1-5/8" high. (A grid pattern molded into the underside serves as a cutting guide to preserve spacing and alignment of the locking notches.)

The standard dividers and bins are sized to fit in a single-width tray section. Both have edge splines and hooked tops that lock into slots positioned every 1" in the tray sections for a secure connection and custom sizing of compartments. The bins, which measure 3-5/8" by 3-7/8", are removable and also can serve as a splice connecting two end-to-end tray sections. Two standard bins can fit side to side in the double-width Wide Tray.

Rockler has created a Lock-Align System Starter Kit (56117), which includes three single-width tray sections, two standard bins, three standard dividers and one tray extension that can be cut to fill any empty drawer space. The Starter Kit is priced at $24.99. Available separately are a Wide Tray with Wide Divider (57914), priced at $14.99; a two-pack of standard Bins (53186), priced at $5.99; and a two-pack of standard Dividers (54150), priced at $1.99.

Additional Lock-Align system accessories are in development.
