NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Aug. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Orange County-based tech company, Laurel At Sunset, parent company of 3Dazer, is proud to announce the nomination of its Founder and CEO, James Shun, for the Orange County Business Journal's Innovator of the Year Award. James Shun and Laurel At Sunset released their one-of-a-kind 3Dazer ( laser measuring device for smartphones, and project management app in Spring of 2018, with the goal of simplifying the day-to-day tasks of construction professionals by enabling users to manage their biggest projects in the palm of their hand. On August 20th, the OCBJ announced its list of 2018 Innovator of the Year Nominees including James Shun, as well as 72 other nominees vying for the OCBJ's Innovator of the Year Award.

The award seeks to "recognize and celebrate Orange County innovators who are creating game-changing ideas, processes, products, services and business models," according to the OCBJ. The winner of the award will be announced at the fourth annual Innovator of the Year Awards Luncheon and Program on September 20, 2018.

The laser measuring device and app allows contractors and other construction professionals, to set aside their measuring tapes, opting instead for 3Dazer's laser measurer which attaches to both IOS and Android smartphones. In addition to storing the information from the laser measurer device, the project management app includes labeling, storing contact information, floor planning and sharing data. By marrying the device's precision laser with the app's project management capabilities, 3Dazer has pioneered the movement to digitize the construction industry.

Post-launch, 3Dazer gained fast traction. The app achieved an impressive 5,000 installations in its first two months, meanwhile acquiring successful contracts with well-known distributors, House Hassen and Essco. 3Dazer also garnered a Stevie Award for the Project Management Solution category in June. They now aim to add the OCBJ's Innovator Award to their trophy case.

"Working from a mobile device is crucial for home improvement professionals since they're always in the field, however, there hasn't been a great tool that allows them to do so. 3Dazer fills that void by providing professionals with the ability to manage projects, access contacts, and measure on the go," says James Shun, 3Dazer's CEO and founder.
