Portfolium Poised to Support California Community College CTE Initiative

As the leading Student Success platform connecting learning with opportunity, Portfolium's unique educational technology and partnership with both the Foundation for California Community Colleges and Cal State University System proves the platform to be crucial in supporting the initiative.

PR Newswire

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The state of California has begun a $248 million investment into Career Technical Education (CTE) for California Community Colleges (CCC) with the primary objective of funding innovative ways to fill the middle-skills gap. As the leading Student Success platform connecting learning with opportunity, Portfolium's unique educational technology and partnership with both the Foundation for California Community Colleges (FCCC) and Cal State University System proves the platform to be crucial in supporting the initiative.

California's $248 million Career Education-focused grant comes as part of California's Strong Workforce Initiative, a plan that envisions California institutions, including all CCC's, working directly with state-certified programs to help promote Career Education, improve attendance, and identify hard and soft skill sets to increase their employability in the professional marketplace.

As the only Student Success Network, Portfolium addresses many of the challenges cited by the initiative, including the need to:

  • Support traditional and non-traditional student transfers
  • Create clear career pathways
  • Identify the hard and soft skills needed to achieve career success
  • Report on career success for CCC students entering the workforce

Watch a short video to learn about the Portfolium Student Success Network.

Portfolium solves for these challenges through the platform's ability to capture evidence of academic and co-curricular work, map skills and learning outcomes to those artifacts, provide a measured report on students' transition from college to the workforce, and allow employers to search for those validated skills to find talent. As a result, institutions will be able to scale and track their student success initiatives from start to finish.

As part of the partnership with the FCCC, Portfolium provides CCC's with the access necessary to easily and immediately launch the platform and integrate it with pre-existing technologies, such as the Canvas learning management system by Instructure; pre-existing institutional initiatives; and pre-approved procurement policies.

As a full-stack Student Success Network, Portfolium's platform includes lifelong ePortfolios, fully-integrative assessment software, digital badging, learning pathways, and a social network connecting learners to peers and employers around the world. As of 2018, over 4M+ students from 3,600+ colleges, universities and high schools use Portfolium to manage and align competency assessment, student success, and career readiness programs.
