Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area announces FY19 mini-grant program

The Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area (HCWHA), a certified heritage area encompassing parts of Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties, announces its FY19 mini-grant program.

FREDERICK, Md., Aug. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Heart of the Civil War is offering competitive mini-grants between $500 and $5,000 to heritage sites, nonprofit organizations, and government units to develop new and innovative programs, partnerships, exhibits, tours, events, and  other heritage tourism-related initiatives that are consistent with the goals and  priorities stated in the HCWHA management plan (available at Grant-funded projects must take place within the geographic boundaries of the heritage area.

Two free half-day grant workshops will be held in September for grant seekers. Friday, September 14 at the Mount Airy Public Library and Tuesday, September  18 at the Greenbrier State Park Auditorium. Both workshop sessions cover the  same material and participants are welcome to attend all or some of the sessions. Participants are encouraged to register online or by emailing Emily Huebner at Attendance is encouraged but not required for applicants to both of the Heritage Area's grant programs. Mini-grant applications are due by Friday, October 26, 2018, and larger state Project Grants will have a winter, 2019 deadline.
