TORONTO, Aug. 21, 2018 /CNW/ - Canadian golfers have tons of talent—and Golf Town, the country's largest golf retailer, aims to support and foster those abilities, as well as help expand the game's popularity as it enters into sponsorship relationships with Jennifer Ha and Augusta James, two of the sport's most promising young stars.

James, from Bath, Ont., and Ha, from Calgary, Alta., are both competing in this week's CP Women's Open in Regina, Sask., and are playing on the developmental Symetra Tour this year as they continue their path to the LPGA Tour. They join Canadian golf superstar Brooke Henderson as Golf Town Athletes.

"Canada has some of the best young golfers in the world," said Frederick LeCoq, Golf Town's Vice-President of Marketing and e-commerce. "And we're doing everything we can to support them and their communities to keep growing the game across the country. In this regard, we're very pleased to welcome Augusta and Jennifer into the Golf Town family."

Both James and Ha were thrilled to receive the support of Golf Town, the country's only business focused solely on providing an industry-leading golf retail experience.

"Getting established as a pro golfer is a challenge to say the least," said James, who won the Canadian Women's Amateur in 2014 and was a standout at NC State. "Golf Town's support will go a long way in helping me achieve my goals as a professional."

Ha, who turned professional in 2016, competed for four years at Kent State University, recording five victories and twice earning conference player of the year honours.

"Becoming a Golf Town athlete is a thrill and is another step in the path to my ultimate goal—winning on the LPGA Tour," said Ha.

Golf Town's commitment to growing the game, and connecting with golfers from across Canada, starts at the grassroots, but includes supporting the next generation of professional golfers.

"Our goal is to help young professionals like Jennifer and Augusta, who will in turn inspire young men and women to head to the fairways and fall in love with this incredible game, one that can be played for a lifetime," says LeCoq.
