Writers Find The Keys for Success at Story Expo 2018 in Los Angeles (Sept. 7-9, 2018)

PR Newswire

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Hollywood beckons as thousands of writers will converge at Story Expo, the biggest conference in the world for storytellers in all mediums (film, TV, publishing, etc.), the weekend of September 7-9, 2018 at the Pasadena Convention Center to not only learn how to TELL their stories, but SELL their stories.

Now in its sixth year, writers from around the world attend Story Expo to take part in sessions featuring  Star Speakers, A-List teachers, Workshops and the famed Pitching Room where writers can pitch their movie, TV and book ideas to executives directly.  Past speakers have included Oscar and Emmy-winning producer Arnold Shapiro (Scared Straight, Homeland Security USA, Big Brother), Emmy-winning writers/producers Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski (The People vs. OJ, Man On The Moon, Big Eyes), Emmy-winning writer/producer Peter Mehlman (Seinfeld), bestselling author Rex Pickett (Sideways), hit show creator/producer Lee Aronsohn (Three And A Half Men, Big Bang Theory), Aaron Korsh (creator/writer of the hit Suits, starring Meghan Markle), author of 15 bestselling books Melody Beattie, comedian Artie Lange (Howard Stern Show), and many others. This year's Story Expo is no exception, featuring such star speakers as Phil Rosenthal (star and producer of the Netflix hit Somebody Feed Phil, creator/producer/writer of Everybody Loves Raymond), writers from Roseanne/The Connors, and more being added almost daily.

LA Screenwriter magazine called Story Expo "immersing [yourself] in three days of storytelling, business and pitching," which has always been Story Expo's goal – to teach writers not only how to write, but what medium their stories are best told in (Film? TV? Novel? Streaming?) for them to achieve both creative AND financial success. Story Expo publicist Henrietta Weinbrandt said, "Writing is a lonely craft, and Story Expo is the last real major conference by writers for writers where over 1,000 writers from around the world convene together for three days, they learn from top speakers, network with one another, and maybe even sell their scripts or stories. People don't want to leave when it's over."

Unlike many writing conferences which charge upwards of $700 for three days with half the offering of Story Expo, Story Expo has maintained its $249 price point for six straight years. "We not only want to offer the best programming and selection of speakers, courses and exhibitors in the business, we want everyone to be able to afford and attend," said Weinbrandt.
