CAA applauds Ontario government's focus on road safety as plans are announced for the legalization of Cannabis

THORNHILL, ON, Aug. 14, 2018 /CNW/ - CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) commends the Ontario government for signalling that road safety will be a top priority as cannabis becomes legal.

CAA SCO believes more work is required to ensure all drivers are aware of both the dangers and penalties associated with driving while drug-impaired.

Teresa Di Felice, AVP of government and community relations for CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) says, "It is important that the government makes road safety and motorist education a top priority. Ontario roads are some of the safest in North America, and we want to keep it that way when cannabis is legalized."

Research conducted by IPSOS on behalf of CAA SCO indicates that two-in-five current cannabis users in Ontario have operated a vehicle while under the influence of marijuana.

As a long-standing advocate for road safety, CAA SCO's focus is to ensure that road safety and public education on the recent legislative changes in Ontario remains at the forefront of efforts to prepare for the legalization of cannabis.
