The 2019 catalogue celebrates the many different needs we have at home, combining IKEA's life at home insights with smart home furnishings solutions to create inspiration for the realities of everyday life. Known for its room settings, this year's catalogue instead features seven entire home spreads, each exploring a unique living situation.

"At IKEA, we strive to be leaders in life at home, exploring our customers' needs, dreams, tensions and challenges within their spaces, so we can understand what makes life better for them," said Kathy Davey, Head of Communication & Interior Design, IKEA Canada. "The 2019 catalogue takes a holistic look not only at the home, but the unique individuals that live within its walls, celebrating our differences, while proving there is no such thing as a typical IKEA home or customer."

IKEA gathers extensive life at home insights to truly understand how customers live their lives at home, including market research, home visits and customer surveys at a local and global level. Last year, more than 400 home visits were conducted in Canada alone. A key living insight explored within the 2019 IKEA Catalogue explores the inherent tension between space and relationships. Among Canadians living in smaller spaces, 63% agree that "I don't have space for myself."

"With the global trend toward urbanization, our homes are getting smaller. As a result, the need to negotiate our own individual space within our homes is at an all-time high," said Kathy Davey, Head of Communication & Interior Design, IKEA Canada. "Canadians want space for both "we-time" and "me-time". We have an opportunity to redefine the entire home as a multi-functional space, breaking individual room conventions, while recognizing that each solution must be uniquely personalized."

The 2019 IKEA Catalogue also marks IKEA's 75th anniversary with a special 8-page spread. The feature includes special birthday offers, local store celebrations and a new limited-edition vintage collection called GRATULERA, which will re-introduce products from the 50s/60s, 70s/80s and 90s/00s. The IKEA Catalogue itself has been around for nearly seven decades, first produced in 1951. Today nearly 190 million copies are printed in 38 languages and distributed in 55 countries.

"The IKEA catalogue is iconic. Highly-anticipated by Canadians, it is a touchpoint that continues to bring a lot of excitement and joy when it arrives in mailboxes every year," said Lauren MacDonald, Head of Marketing, IKEA Canada. "The content still strongly resonates with consumers by showing beautiful home solutions that are inspired by real life and at low prices that are accessible to the many."

The IKEA Catalogue is available in two formats: print and digital. The digital Catalogue will be available on August 15th and can be found at: www.IKEA.ca/Catalogue or fr.IKEA.ca/Catalogue. Physical copies of the new 2018 IKEA Catalogue will be available in IKEA stores across Canada as of August 15th.

Each year IKEA releases new products and new lower prices within the Catalogue. All prices shown are maximum prices valid for one year, giving customers time to plan their purchases. This year, IKEA Catalogue will also be delivered to more than 350,000 Quebec City residents, where a new IKEA store is scheduled to open on August 22nd.
