ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga., Aug. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Butin Integrated Communications, an award-winning marketing communications agency specializing in the food, travel, and lifestyle industries, has been selected as a finalist for "Small PR Firm of the Year" in PR News' 2018 Platinum PR & Agency Elite Awards competition.

The award from PR News – whose publications and programs serve the communications, public relations and marketing community within corporations, agencies, nonprofits, and governmental organizations – recognizes the best small agency out of entrants from across the United States.

Butin is based on St. Simons Island and also has a significant operation in Charlotte, North Carolina. Established in 2005, the firm continues to grow as a Southeastern-based agency with a roster that includes both national and regional clientele. The company specializes in marketing communications strategy, social/digital media planning and execution, influencer marketing, national and grassroots media relations, special events, and crisis/reputation management.

"Since the inception of this agency, I've been committed to staying ahead of the trends, being better at what we do, and not simply bigger, finding and developing the best talent available for our clients," said Mary Butin, the company's founder and CEO. "We're proud to serve clients around the country from our operations in the Southeast. Our award-winning work is testament to the right combination of bright, creative young professionals and seasoned communications veterans that we've carefully assembled."

Her agency has succeeded by staying at the forefront of consumer behavior, Butin explained. "And that's quite a challenge in today's hyper-social, media-driven world," she added. "We've managed to stay keenly focused on activity within the consumer packaged goods and travel-and-lifestyle industries. We also pride ourselves on deep client relationships built over time through quality, tangible, goal-oriented solutions and results."

Butin Integrated Communications actually has been named a finalist for two of this year's Platinum PR Awards from PR News. The agency also is in the running in the Blog category for the website "Dish on Fish," which Butin created and manages in partnership with The National Fisheries Institute, a client based in suburban Washington. DishonFish.com in June was ranked No. 1 on content reader Feedspot's list of the "Top 100 Seafood Blogs and Websites for Seafood Lovers in 2018."

Many of Butin's largest clients have been with the agency for more than eight years, and more than 90 percent of the firm's existing business is referral-based, Butin pointed out.

In recognition of its outstanding multiyear, double-digit growth rates, Butin has been named four times to the "Bulldog 100," a roll call of the fastest-growing companies that are either owned or managed by graduates of the University of Georgia. The agency was recently nominated for that honor once again, for its performance in 2017.

The 2018 Platinum PR and Agency Elite Awards will be presented Sept. 21 during luncheon ceremonies at the Grand Hyatt New York in Midtown Manhattan. Award-winning sports journalist, producer and director Hannah Storm is scheduled as the keynote speaker for the event, which begins at 11 a.m.
