Argosy University, Chicago Counseling Programs Receive Continued Grant Of Accreditation From CACREP

CHICAGO, Aug. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) has granted eight years continued accreditation to the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Doctor of Education in Counselor Education & Supervision programs at Argosy University, Chicago

As a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, CACREP grants accredited status to graduate-level programs in the professional counseling field. CACREP accreditation is recognition that the programs' quality meets the standards set by the counseling profession and is among the highest commendations that an academic program can receive in the counseling field. As stated by CACREP, "Specialty areas receiving accreditation for an eight-year period deserve to be commended for the work completed throughout the accreditation process. This is indeed a worthy achievement."

Currently the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is accredited by CACREP under the 2001 Standards as a Community Counseling program. The CACREP 2016 standards combine the Community Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling standards into standards for Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs. The counseling department intends to seek accreditation for this program as a Clinical Mental Health Counseling program when it comes up for re-accreditation, per CACREP guidelines.
