Sutton Family Auto Awarded Honda Open Point in Minneapolis Suburb

PR Newswire

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Sutton Auto Team proudly confirmed that they will open their first Minneapolis based dealership. After successfully working with the Ford, Lincoln and Honda brands in suburban Chicago and in Kenosha, Wisconsin the fast-growing dealer group will now sell and service Hondas in the Minneapolis suburb of Coon Rapids.

The Sutton Auto Team proudly announces a Honda open point in Minneapolis.

Nate Sutton, Dealer Principal, will establish a Honda open point on the rapidly developing north side of town near Gateway Commerce Center at Highway 10 and Harrison Boulevard.

Sutton won the open point over dozens of candidates from a large field of dealer applicants from the Minneapolis metro area and Midwest.

"I was honored to be considered and ecstatic to be selected," Sutton said. "I give all the credit to our outstanding group of current employees and our growing list of satisfied customers. Those positive shared experiences and our commitment to Honda will be the standard we bring to every working day in the Minneapolis community."

Current plans call for more than 100 employees and an all-new $10 million facility—just west of the McDonald's restaurant on Harrison Boulevard. The facility will open in early 2019 and will include a 61,000 square foot building with more than 800 vehicle parking spaces.

The new dealership will be called Rapids Honda.

A new automotive row is developing as Walser Auto Group is in the process of relocating a competing dealership just west of Sutton's all-new Honda Dealership.

"Rapids Honda is honored to join the Honda community in Minneapolis. From Luther Brookdale Honda to Buerkle Honda to Walser Honda and all the other great Honda dealers in between--I know them and respect them all," Sutton said. Sutton also noted, "Rapids Honda, like all of the Honda dealers in Minneapolis, will be a part to the well-being of the city through job growth and by contributing to the community."

One of Honda's top dealers, Sutton graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Engineering. He also attended Ford Motor Company's Dealer Academy. A 25-year veteran of the automotive industry he started his business on Chicago's south side. His unique combination of engineering skills and entrepreneurial spirit have served him well as he continues to grow his family business.

Sutton's charitable endeavors include heavy involvement in the community as a board member for the Ingalls Hospital Board, the Village of Matteson Economic Development Commission, and the Board of Governors for Opportunity International among many others. Among other interests, Sutton presently owns Dealerships in Chicago (Sutton Lincoln-Ford), Kenosha (Honda of Kenosha) and now Minneapolis (Rapids Honda).

Sutton's General Manager in the new dealership, Roy Lacey, has decades of automotive experience in each of the aforementioned locations. An advocate for employees, customers and autos Lacey's operational expertise helps bring Sutton's dreams to life.

Mr. Sutton said, "Roy is like family in the truest sense of the word. Our dealership's stay connected via our family roots and through Roy's efforts. We will continue our traditions of excellence in customer service and product support as we continue to grow."

An informational website is in development. Additional details about the dealership will be found on their web page or on soon to be released social media pages.
