Patsy Nixon: Gems, Junk and Rainbow Shards

New exhibit featuring Patsy Nixon to open at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan, OK

DUNCAN, Okla. (PRWEB) August 29, 2018

Come see the new mixed media art Duncan resident, Patsy Nixon, has created in the last year. Patsy's formal art training included pottery and pastel paintings. Now, at age 90, she is creating new art, and a break from traditional art. Using found objects such as bottle caps, broken CDs, jewelry and household items, she creates mixed media collages on salvaged wood panels. Every piece begins with a sketch on a grid for accuracy to dimensions.

"This is so much more fun! I like to say I went from creeks and clay to gems and junk." Patsy's husband, Jack, scours the ground on his bicycle rides around town, in search of items for her art. Discarded objects become treasures and works of art for this creative woman. "That foil comes off (the CDs) like shards and looks like rainbows," she said. Nixon will also have many of her older, traditional pastel paintings and pottery available in the show. All items will be available to purchase, but must remain on display for duration of the show.

Exhibit to open on Sept 6, 2018 at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center in Duncan, OK and will run through Oct 11, 2018. An artist reception will be held on Sept 6, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 PM.
