The Alberta Centre for Advanced MNT Products (ACAMP) and Raytheon Canada Limited, a subsidiary of Raytheon Company, join forces with the Alberta based Advanced Systems for Transportation Consortium to protect intelligent autonomous systems from cyberattacks.

With the global advanced transportation and autonomous vehicle systems market expected to grow from $2.4 billion in 2014 to $102 billion in 2030, security is paramount. In recognizing the true potential of this market for Alberta businesses, ACAMP led the formation of the Autonomous Systems for Transportation Consortium (AST). The purpose of AST is to encourage development and innovation in smart infrastructure and transportation as well as promoting collaboration between Alberta businesses, academic institutions, multinational manufacturers and the government of Alberta.

As part of the AST Consortium, Raytheon Canada Limited will take the lead on cybersecurity resilience of hardware, firmware and software subsystems used by AST.

"In Alberta, companies are working on technology that can be applied to autonomous systems worldwide". "Resilient systems from cyberattacks are imperative for the safe operation of any Intelligent Autonomous Systems," says Ken Brizel, ACAMP CEO.

"Alberta companies employ hundreds of people in the area of Intelligent Autonomous Systems, including artificial intelligence, advanced sensor technologies and geospatial mapping. The AST Consortium will enable Alberta's small to medium sized businesses to expand their client base, increase their exports, attract investments, and help diversify the Alberta economy," said Rosy Amlani, ACAMP CFO & Vice President Business Development.
