The Modern Architecture + Design Society returns for the 6th annual Vancouver Modern Home Tour on Saturday, September 15. Tour benefits KPU's Wilson School of Design

VANCOUVER, B.C. (PRWEB) August 16, 2018

Some tour-goers search for inspiration for their next project; others hope to find an architect or home builder to work with; whatever the reasons may be, all tour-goers come to see a curated selection of Vancouver homes that embody British Columbia's unique modern architecture and design aesthetic.

On Saturday, September 15th, the Modern Architecture+ Design Society (MA+DS) returns to Vancouver for the 2018 Modern Home Tour. The annual event gives regional architects, designers, and home builders the opportunity to showcase their work to the community in which they work. In turn, the self-guided tour gives the community an opportunity to engage the minds behind the designs and ask questions as they explore some of Vancouver's modern homes inside and out.

"The Vancouver Modern Home Tour has become the traditional kick-off event for our fall tour series, and it's one we always look forward to," says MA+DS founder and president, James Leasure. "Vancouver has an amazing and inspiring movement in modern residential architecture and design. This year's line-up features diverse and incredible designs from some of the area's leading architects and home builders that we cannot wait to showcase to our tour-goers."

Five homes have been accepted and confirmed for the 2018 Vancouver Modern Home Tour. Participating architects and designers, and featured neighborhoods include:

  • A brand-new home in the Dunbar-Southlands neighborhood by the newly formed SeaChange Property Development - an exciting new partnership between BattersbyHowat Architects and Natural Balance Home Builders
  • A new home designed by Synthesis Designs, nestled in the heart of North Vancouver's Deep Cove neighborhood
  • A sophisticated, fully renovated West Vancouver penthouse in the heart of Hollyburn, also designed by Synthesis Designs.
  • A 2017 Lanefab Design/Build renovation and addition to a 1965 Arthur Erickson home, known locally as the ‘the Wedge House,' in North Vancouver's Edgemont Village
  • A second Lanefab Design/Build design, a laneway home, located in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood

As always, KPU's Wilson School of Design has been named as the Modern Home Tour local non-profit partner and beneficiary. Fashion marketing students will help staff the event, in return for a donation to the school's program and the opportunity to use the tour as a fundraising vehicle, while also contributing community service hours, a cornerstone of the applied learning that Kwantlen students are known for.

Participating homes in the 6th annual Vancouver Modern Home Tour will open their doors for viewing from 11AM – 5PM on Saturday, September 15th. Tickets to see all homes are $50. Ages 12 and up are invited to attend. Details on participants can be found at http://www.vancouvermodernhometour.com.
