Online Classes are Back in Session on September 4

Students and teachers at Michigan
Great Lakes Virtual Academy
(MGLVA) will start the 2018-2019 school
year on September 4. A full-time online public charter school for
students in grades K-12, MGLVA is available tuition-free to students
across the state.

MGLVA combines innovative technology with a rigorous curriculum led by
Michigan-certified teachers. Students take a full course load across the
core subjects of math, science, language arts, history, music and art,
as well as a variety of electives, honors and Advanced Placement®
courses at the appropriate grade levels.

Beginning this year, MGLVA high school students will have the
opportunity to take online Career Technical Education (CTE) courses
through the school's Destinations
Career Program
. This program introduces students to specialty trade
skills through online courses in the fields of business management and
administration, finance, marketing and health science. These engaging,
content-rich courses expand the traditional education experience and
maximize a student's ability to succeed in the community and workforce.

"As the new school year gets underway, we're excited to introduce our
students to the Destinations programs," said Kendall Schroeder, MGLVA
head of school. "We have long been a trusted public education partner to
Michigan families, and the addition of these online CTE courses will be
another way we are preparing our students for college and in-demand
career opportunities."

From live classes to one-on-one instruction to chat sessions, phone
calls and in-person events, MGLVA's dedicated teachers work in close
partnership with families and students to support academic success. The
online platform enables students to enjoy a safe learning environment
and connects them with classmates and teachers from across the state.
