RoboKiller's Data Tracker Shows Robocalls Cresting the 5 Billion Calls per Month Mark in July

RoboKiller, the app that gets revenge on robocalls with Answer Bots,
shared data from its Robocall
Data Tracker
indicating the total number of unwanted telemarketing
calls placed to Americans crossed the 5 billion call mark for the first
time in July.

According to RoboKiller, the already bloated problem began to spike in
May with a reported 3.7 billion calls and has continued to explode
through the summer. Americans now see an average of 19 spam calls per
month, many of which are scams targeting the most vulnerable populations.

"Scammers are desperate to find more victims, and 5 billion inexpensive,
auto-dialed, robocalls are the weapon of choice," said Ethan Garr,
RoboKiller's VP of Product. "We are fighting back with Answer Bots,
robots that talk back to spammers, because finding the humans behind
these calls and wasting their time is the only way consumers can win
this fight."

The Robocall Data Tracker further showed that Texas was the hardest hit
region with six of the top ten most impacted area codes located in the
Lonestar state. Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York were also heavily
impacted in July.

RoboKiller collects data for its tracker through its award-winning
mobile apps for iOS and Android. As the app identifies and blocks
hundreds of thousands of phone numbers to protect its users from ringing
spam calls, it silently answers those calls with Answer Bots. These bots
stole back more than 53,000 hours of telemarketers time in July.
