Stealth Women's Healthcare Company, Kindbody, Launches with Fertility Pop-Up

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Serial entrepreneur and former Founder/CEO of Progyny, Gina Bartasi, has launched Kindbody, a new women's healthcare company. Kindbody is building a national network of boutique women's healthcare facilities through pop-up and brick-and-mortar locations, with technology and patient experience at its core. This Wednesday, August 1st, Kindbody's physician partners will begin offering complimentary fertility tests at the first mobile fertility pop-up on 25th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York City, from 10am-6pm, and again this Sunday, August 5th, from 9am-1pm in Southampton, NY, at Southampton Sweat, a wellness event hosted by Christie Brinkley.

"Healthcare is bifurcated and siloed, but it doesn't have to be. Our objective is to reinvent the existing healthcare delivery model by providing a continuum of care — a true vertical integration of all women's healthcare needs. We'll initially focus on fertility services and then expand into mental health, nutrition and gynecological services," says Bartasi. Bartasi is credited with developing the first-of-its-kind fertility benefit solution, Progyny, for large, self-insured employers with 14 of the top 32 Fortune 100 companies as clients.

Bartasi's team is an all-star roster including co-founders Dr. Fahimeh Sasan, Joanne Schneider and Cynthia Hudson, as well as veteran executives from Flatiron Health, Oscar Health, Mount Sinai Hospital, and One Medical.

"Women's health is interconnected. Your mental and physical health directly affect your reproductive health," says Founding Physician, Dr. Fahimeh Sasan, who joined Kindbody after more than a decade at Mount Sinai. Dr. Sasan adds, "Today's patient population is smart, data-driven and strong. They care about convenience and service, and they're shopping for their healthcare services like never before. Kindbody speaks directly to them."

In "reinventing" today's healthcare delivery model, former Google and Flatiron Health product leader, Joanne Schneider, Co-Founder and Head of Product for Kindbody says, "Real change comes from putting the patient and technology first, so we're investing heavily in patient-facing tools and a centralized data platform." While there have been significant improvements made in the fertility lab, there's been very little patient-facing innovation: one-third of all fertility clinics continue to use paper charts and none provide direct online scheduling. "There's a lot of inefficiency in the system, and the cost of treatment is very high. We think there are many ways to bring cost down that are good for patients and for business," adds Schneider.

As more women delay having children, IVF and egg freezing are on a rapid rise with annual growth rates of 10%+ and some west coast markets reporting 30%. In a recent Forbes article, author David Sable highlights the "latent demand for affordable, accessible IVF" adding that if the U.S. per capita utilization was similar to Australia or Israel, "even if the revenue per cycle is cut in half...we would create [$3 to] over $6 billion of economic activity."

"We know there's demand for innovation and more cost-effective treatment. We simply need to reimagine care delivery. We believe in the consumerization of healthcare, and bringing care directly to the patient is imperative," says Dr. Sasan. Patients will be able to visit Kindbody's brick-and-mortar location at 693 Fifth Avenue in New York City also starting in August. Bartasi summarizes the Kindbody values, "There's a reason we're calling it Kindbody. We're choosing to be kind."
