LITTLE ROCK, Ark., July 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The family of a former freshman at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville who died on April 8, 2018, is seeking retribution against Rivendell Behavioral Health Services in Benton, Arkansas.  The family of the student, Joely Clements, has filed the lawsuit after she was found dead in the apartment of a male nurse employed at the facility where she was a patient.

According to the complaint filed on July 26, 2018, Joely Clements checked into Rivendell for treatment due to a drug addiction.   The day after she was discharged from Rivendell, a male nurse employed by the facility invited her to his Little Rock apartment. Three days later, she was found dead there with a syringe in her neck.

The complaint details that at the time of the incident, the male nurse was on probation with the Arkansas Nursing Board for stealing narcotic medications from his patients to use for himself.  Shortly before the death of Joely Clements, the same male nurse who was responsible for caring for drug addicted patients, was admitted to another UHS rehabilitation hospital as a patient himself.

The lawsuit, filed by the Potts Law Firm, LLP of Houston also claims that UHS, Inc. – a Fortune 500 company with revenue of over $11 Billion in 2017 – was in control of the Rivendell facility and was negligent in its staffing, hiring, retaining, training, and supervising of Rivendell and thus the male nurse.

The case is titled Clements, et al. v. Universal Healthcare Services, Inc., et. al., Cause No. 60CV-18-5227; Pulaski County Circuit Court
