The Government of Canada awards almost $1 million in financial assistance to Notre Hôtel and to l'Hôtel Universel Alma

ALMA, QC, July 26, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Tourism provides an excellent opportunity for economic diversification, both nationally and regionally. This is why the Government of Canada's support for tourism projects is an effective way of contributing to the generation of economic spinoffs and creating jobs for the middle class.

Richard Hébert, Member of Parliament for Lac-Saint-Jean, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that Notre Hôtel (2861-0467 Québec Inc.) [Website in French only] and l'Hôtel Universel Alma (3098-6145 Québec Inc.) [Website in French only] have been granted repayable contributions in the amounts of $324,550 and $605,000, respectively.

The funding granted under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program was used to carry out major works in the two establishments' rooms and common areas, thus enabling them to improve their accommodation offer and maintain a standard of quality.

Notre Hôtel is a charming small hotel located in downtown Alma; it operates in the leisure and business markets. Its 30 rooms are now completely renovated. The shareholders have given themselves the mandate to set themselves apart from other three-star establishments in the region by the quality/price ratio proposed.

The Hôtel Universel Alma, the only four-star establishment in the Lac-Saint-Jean-Est RCM, is favourably located near major tourist attractions in the region, including the Véloroute des Bleuets and the Pointe-Taillon national park. It provides an experience that will please the most demanding clients: 71 renovated rooms, a pool and a spa, a complete range of services at its health centre, a bar lounge in a relaxed setting, and much more.
