What we know about the 2019 Ford Ranger

PR Newswire

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt., July 23, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The 2017 North American International Auto Show had a ton of interesting information to offer auto enthusiasts and dealerships, but none were perhaps as interesting as Ford's unveiling of their plans for the new 2019 Ford Ranger. According to the automaker, the new Ford Ranger would finally market its way back to the North-American market, where trucks and SUVs are in huge demand.

The new Ford Ranger shares many similarities with the Ford F-Series on its outside, with a similar shape and size, but underneath this exterior, it's showing off a whole new vehicle. The new 2019 Ford Ranger will feature a durable and strong body, built with high-strength steel and six cross members. Additionally, the new Ford Ranger has been tested to the same standards of durability as the F-Series trucks at Ford, according to engineers.

The only engine that will be offered on the North American edition of the new 2019 Ford Ranger will be a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder, according to Ford engineers, which will be paired with a twin-scroll turbocharger. This engine will be paired with an exceptional 10-speed automatic transmission, which was co-developed with General Motors, and features a three-gear overdrive. This allows the new Ford Ranger to get exceptional off-road ability!

Speaking of off-road, the new Ford Ranger will also feature Ford's Terrain Management system, which was first found on the Ford Raptor. This system features four modes: normal, grass/gravel/snow, mud, and sand. It'll allow drivers to tackle any terrain, no matter how rough!
