Not Very Hungry, But Still Need to Eat? Grab a Cheaper Snack, Thanks to Financial Education Benefits Center

SAN RAMON, Calif., July 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Individuals have different eating habits they prefer and that may work better for a specific body type. Some people prefer eating a few large meals, some prefer a few smaller but more frequent meals, others may prefer near-constant snacking. Not all preferences are healthy ones though because, for various reasons, people may have a hard time eating them. Financial Education Benefits Center (FEBC), a membership benefits service company, offers discounts for groceries for members that may make getting stomachable food choices more available.

During times of extreme stress, many people say that their appetite is just not what it once was. Over time between not having enough time, being stressed out or being too tired to make a full meal, individuals might let good eating habits fall to the wayside. Snacking can be good when done right, but often people reach for something quick and sugar-filled, rather than something that would be nutritionally valuable for them.

"With how tasty sugar is and how often things like protein bars aren't," quipped Jennifer Martinez, manager at FEBC, "it can be difficult to pick a healthier choice." It may come down to finding a halfway point between the two extremes. Dried fruit, salted nuts or seeds, protein bars that aren't quite the bodybuilder-extreme-type could be potential options for an individual who is thinking of reaching for a light snack.

More importantly, though, is just eating something at all. Some people feel they're too busy to have breakfast and then they may not be hungry for lunch because this has become an ongoing problem, and now their body is too used to not eating. Then by the time they get home, they're too tired to make dinner because they've worked all day and have not eaten. Having intermittent snacks throughout the day may help people keep going if they want to stay on their specific schedule and wait to get home to really eat. It may also help get their body back on track to aim towards a healthier eating pattern.

FEBC's membership discounts on groceries might help members start buying those snacks that they can tolerate eating and then maybe better-afford larger meals, too, with personally picked foods from the grocery store. "There's a lot of things going on in people's lives that might make it difficult to eat. Eating regular meals is ideal, but eating something is better than nothing. FEBC wants all of its members to be as healthy as possible. And however that gets to be done for our members, we will help provide them with the benefits we can," said Martinez.
