CLARKSBURG, Md., July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- A recent NBC Nightly News story, dated July 14, 2018, features video of a recent demonstration of Robotic Research's autonomy software aboard driverless Army convoy vehicles, as well as continuing strong advocacy for such programs and capabilities by Secretary of the Army Mark Esper.

The Nightly News story, entitled "Inside the Army's High-Tech Effort to Keep U.S. Defenses on the Cutting Edge," opens with video of a demonstration of Army Autonomous Ground Resupply (AGR) vehicles guided by Robotic Research autonomy software and includes an insightful interview with Secretary Esper.  According to Secretary Esper, "It's a brave new world in terms of this next generation of technologies that will change fundamentally the character of warfare as we know it now....  The future begins here with systems like this, that's where America's Army will be by 2028."

Robotic Research, LLC, is an innovative engineering company that provides autonomy software and robotic technology solutions to numerous Federal and commercial customers.  On June 6, 2018, the U.S. Army awarded Robotic Research a major contract for autonomy kits (A-kits) for ground resupply convoy vehicles.  Valued at nearly $50 million over three years, the contract solidified the company's industry-leading position as supplier of autonomy software for military vehicles.

Autonomous operations of ground vehicles has become a major modernization thrust of the U.S. Army leadership.  On recent visits to the Army's Tank and Automotive Research, Development & Engineering Center (TARDEC) and in other fora, Army Secretary Esper has espoused the urgent priority of developing and fielding autonomous and robotic systems to maintain U.S. overmatch against adversaries in an era of great power competition and to save the lives of American troops fighting in harm's way.
