The market is still lead by Kingfisher brand of United Breweries Limited, while there is a tough fight between SABMiller India Limited and Carlsberg India Private Limited. More than 40% of market is controlled by regional and local players which do not posse resources to expand pan India or have small profit margins with low price.

The growth of mild beer in Indian market has attracted many strong beers producing players and they are also found to be coming up with mild beer brands. The mild beer is expected to break the share of strong bear and grow into the Indian markets.

The mild beer segments of premium beer brands are expected to grow at a higher rate compared to the standard mild beer segment. The reason for so is the rising number of foreign players who are bringing their world famous mild beer brands to India and due to high import and excise are positioned as premium brands.
