Reliable Email Verification May Be Gone Forever

Recent changes from Verizon's new Oath service may have long-lasting impact on Email Marketing

PITTSBURGH (PRWEB) July 26, 2018

Webbula CEO Vince Cersosimo released an official statement today via the company's website warning that, "We've heard in the past the refrain that verification may be dying, but from where I'm standing it looks as if we may have already quietly passed that mark."

The impetus for this strong editorial statement stems directly from recent changes that have resulted from Verizon's new Oath email service, which has taken over email accounts previously handled by Yahoo and AOL. The decision was made earlier this year to ‘turn-off' verification for those emails. "...the news regarding the ‘off switch' to email bounce checks that affect all of Yahoo, Verizon, and AOL emails has strangely been missing from the conversation. Others within our industry are clearly hesitate to say publicly what we all know privately. That this is a significant change that could negatively impact all email marketing and data solution providers, especially those offering or relying on bounce checks."

The loss of reliable verification from such a significant portion of the email spectrum could have a direct impact on companies that rely on email for different types of business marketing. From advertising and marketing agencies to consumer brands - email remains an important and crucial method of communication. As he warns, "This change will eventually have a direct impact on data providers across the board. Industry giants such as, Oracle and SalesForce, service providers such as Return Path, Act-on, MailChimp, and others. But this change crosses all borders and will eventually impact businesses on both the consumer and B2B side of the fence as well. Anyone that relies on email will be impacted."

Cersosimo, who has been Webbula's CEO since the company was founded in 2009, went on to call upon all of those in the industry to address this issue with honesty, "My primary concern is for our industry at large. In the current environment of constant changes, GDPR, privacy issues, data breaches, and consumer protection, it is more important than ever to adhere to transparency and truth in all we do."
