David Tucker and Burton Spivak talk dreams, life purpose and careers in "The Hard Bargain"

NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 24, 2018

Author David Tucker has experienced what it was like to have one dream and end up following a dream he never knew he had. He details his and his father's clash of wills in his new memoir, "The Hard Bargain: Music, Medicine and My Father (Richard Tucker, Opera Legend)."

"The Hard Bargain" is a compelling memoir based on Tucker's own life with his father, celebrated tenor Richard Tucker. As a young man, Tucker dreamt of enjoying an opera career like his dad, but Richard's vision for his son's future as a doctor brought their relationship into significant conflict.

The memoir also provides readers a glimpse into the world of opera, the long path to a medical career and the importance of hard work and interweaves it into a narrative of the Jewish American life.

"I wrote this book as a testament to the great life my father lived and the awesome career he helped me pursue," Tucker said. "I thank him every day for helping me see my true calling."

The US Review of Books describes "The Hard Bargain" as "an inspiring story of ambition and compromise…the memoir examines the process of evaluating our talents and accepting when our gifts are best served on a different stage."

A father-son struggle, both hilarious and humiliating, this memoir is an honest depiction of the occasional turmoil and relentless love in relationships between parents and children.
