Pacific Paradise-Themed Gala Will Feature Menu Designed By Popular Chef Ravi Kapur

WOODSIDE, Calif. (PRWEB) July 19, 2018

Filoli today announced this year's fundraising gala, the Pacific Paradise Gala, will pay tribute to its past while supporting its strategic effort to be more relevant for future generations. Taking place on Friday, September 7th, the Pacific Paradise Gala will honor Filoli's special connection to the Pacific Isles with an inspired dinner in the garden by renowned chef, Ravi Kapur. The most recent tenants of Filoli, the Roth family, owned the Hawaiian-based Matson shipping company, the first vessel service to establish a connection between San Francisco and the Pacific Isles.

"Matson and Roth had an eye for innovation and they saw potential where others did not," said Kara Newport, Chief Executive Officer of Filoli. "They saw the potential of Hawaii as a tourist destination and the potential of Filoli as a one-of-a-kind property that would serve as their home and a place to entertain for the years to come. The connection between Filoli and Hawaii was evident throughout the Roth era -- the family often incorporated pieces of Hawaiian culture, including leis, flowers from Hawaii and Hawaiian music, into the events they hosted on the estate. Filoli is honored to pay tribute to the Roth family and the estate's special connection to the Pacific Isles with its Pacific Paradise Gala, while adding a modern twist and appealing to generations of the future."

The cocktail reception and sit-down dinner will be spearheaded by renowned culinary master Ravi Kapur, executive chef and co-owner of the highly-acclaimed Liholiho Yacht Club restaurant in San Francisco. Born in Hawaii, Ravi specializes in heritage-driven fare and flavors, and was named Food and Wine's Best New Chef in 2016. Ravi will design a special menu for the Pacific Paradise Gala, bringing the Hawaiian heritage to Filoli once again, with a contemporary twist. Filoli is excited to invite guests to be part of this re-innovation at its Pacific Paradise gala, which will raise funds to support the historic estate.

"We're excited to partner with Filoli on their annual fundraising gala this fall to help raise funds for this extraordinary historic estate," said Ravi Kapur, Executive Chef and Owner of Liholiho Yacht Club. "Our team will prepare heritage-driven plates for the cocktail reception and sit-down dinner menu, celebrating the Hawaiian heritage that is special to both me and Filoli."

The September 7th fall celebration will kick off at 6:00PM with cocktails in the sunken garden. A workshop station will be set-up for attendees to create their own tropical flower hair pieces or boutonnieres, with expert assistance from Filoli's talented volunteers. Guests also have the option to attend a special VIP cocktail experience with Ravi Kapur at 5:30PM for themed wine and hors-d'oeuvre pairings, at an additional $150 per person. From there, guests will enjoy dinner in the garden, featuring a range of dishes made by Ravi that incorporate fresh ingredients sourced from local farms, ranches and Filoli's own orchards. Dinner will be accompanied with live music from The Alcatraz Islanders.

A live auction will take place during dinner and will feature a range of unique packages, including a Bay Tree Bowl crafted from a tree on the estate filled with treats from Filoli, a photography session in the Filoli gardens, a one-of-a-kind horticulture experience with Head of Horticulture Jim Salyards, an exclusive Filoli swim party for 40, and a Murder Mystery dinner for 20 in the historic mansion. The evening will wrap with treats from See's Candies and coffee in the sunken garden from 9:00PM - 10:00PM. Cocktail attire is encouraged.
