During March 2018, domestic traffic increased in ten airports, with the largest increases in:

  • Monterrey (+9.9%; +67,299 passengers), with 48% of OMA's domestic traffic, increased principally because of higher passenger traffic on the Cancún, Tijuana, Mexicali, Veracruz, Querétaro, San José del Cabo, and Mérida routes.

  • Culiacán (+43.4%; +61,708), OMA's second largest airport, with 13% of domestic traffic, increased as a result of additional traffic on the Tijuana, Guadalajara, and La Paz routes.

  • Ciudad Juárez (+13.4%; +12,728) had increases on its Guadalajara and Cancún routes.

In March, Aeromar opened the Acapulco – Guadalajara and Zihuatanejo – Guadalajara routes; VivaAerobus started the Chihuahua – Cancún and Monterrey – Querétaro routes; TAR opened the Ciudad Juárez – Durango and Durango – Ciudad Juárez routes; and Aeroméxico began operting the Monterrey – Mérida route.

International traffic grew in nine airports in March, with the largest increase in Monterrey (+10.9%; +11,063 passengers), as a result of increases in the number of passengers on the Detroit, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas routes.

During the month, Aeroméxico opened the Monterrey – Detroit route.

Of total passenger traffic, 98.9% was commercial, and 1.1% was general aviation.
