About our sponsors:

Whole Food Market
Founded in Austin, Texas, when four local businesspeople decided the natural foods industry was ready for a supermarket format. Whole Foods Market's founders, John Mackey and Renee Lawson Hardy, owners of Safer Way Natural Foods, and Craig Weller and Mark Skiles, owners of Clarksville Natural Grocery opened in 1980 with a staff of only 19 people. It was an immediate success. At the time, there were less than half a dozen natural food supermarkets in the United States, growing by leaps and bounds since the first store opened.

"Whole Foods Market is proud to sponsor the United Negro College Fund's event, which helps further their impact of helping minorities attend and graduate college."- Lucia Albero, metro marketing team leader, Whole Foods Market

Harlem Shake
In May 2013, Harlem Shake flagship restaurant opened in the heart of Central Harlem at 100 W. 124th St. (corner of Lenox Ave.) The fast-casual restaurant features a menu made for both simple and sophisticated tastes. Hiring members of the Harlem community; nearly 65% of our staff resides from the east to west side of Harlem. As a part of the village of Harlem, it is important for the restaurant group to collaborate with community businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Heritage Link
In 2005, Khary and Selena Cuffe married and subsequently founded Heritage Link Brands upon learning South Africa had a $3 billion wine industry, yet less than 2% of the industry was owned by people of color, who represent over 85% of the country's population. From PBS to TIME, the company has been recognized for its innovation and acceleration of South Africa's and Brazil's vino-tourism industries.

"As the proud daughter and granddaughter of Tuskegee graduates, I greatly appreciate and value what UNCF does to uplift and empower the African American community at large. As such, it is an honor to sponsor UNCF's initiatives in NY so that many others can also realize their educational dreams and the benefits that come with the dedication to such a pursuit!"- Selena Cuffe, owner, Heritage Link Brands
