CardCash annouced the release of an innovative new gift card donation platform to help Hurricane Harvey Victims

Brick, NJ (PRWEB) September 04, 2017

The relentless rains and flooding turned the greater Houston, Texas area into an unrecognizable war-zone. Hurricane Harvey has spread misery across a wide path, swamping more than 50 counties and unleashing historic flooding. In the storm's aftermath, many local and national organizations have come together to provide much needed assistance.

From far and wide, convoys of trucks filled with supplies and volunteers have demonstrated how we all come together in times of need, each community doing their part. CardCash, the nation's leading gift card marketplace has partnered with Charity On Top to provide an innovative form of fundraising for the American Red Cross, Greater Houston Community Foundation's Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, the Houston Food Bank, Houston Humane Society and Americares.

When thinking of a technology company's developers and programmers, providing disaster relief thousands of miles away doesn't usually come to mind. But, "When we heard what happened in Texas and saw the pictures on the news, we knew we needed to do something", explained Greg Domorski, lead frontend developer at CardCash. "The development team initiated an innovative project to allow gift card donation to charities through the CardCash gift card exchange platform. Dave Mascia, lead developer expressed, "writing code is always enjoyable for me, but nothing can compare to the satisfaction of writing code that can have such a great impact on so many in need." "We always encourage initiative and innovation here at CardCash," says Tom Butt, Chief Technology Officer, "however, we have never been more proud of anything our team has accomplished."

This level of innovation called for an innovative partnership. Charity On Top, a uniquely innovative charity that creates custom gift cards that can only be redeemed for charity giving. Their cards allow the person receiving the gift card to choose the 501(c)(3) charity that they care most about. This is perhaps not the easiest choice with 1.8 million to choose from.

Charity On Top was inspired by some friends who wondered how they could share their love for charity. "You get the tax-deduction and they get to change the world!" says Kathy Selders, co-founder.

Together, CardCash and Charity on Top are allowing for anyone, anywhere to donate their gift card to help Harvey victims. Unused gift cards are an untapped source of funds since many go unused forever. "There are billions of dollars of unused gift cards in people's wallets and drawers, Shmuli Rosenberg, Chief Revenue Officer at CardCash points out, "this is a way to leverage this as a resource to provide much needed aid."

Elliot Bohm, CEO commended his team for their work on this project. "As a company focused on building technologies to help solve problems and provide for our customer's needs, it is gratifying to put these skills to work for such an important cause."

Hundreds of brands of gift card are accepted thanks to the extensive CardCash platform. All those who would like to help by donating a gift card can visit https://harvey.cardcash.com. For more information please contact harveyrelief(at)cardcash.com.
