EDMONTON, July 24, 2017 /CNW/ - The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) and the Edmonton International Airport (EIA) invite members of the media to an information session aimed at providing passengers with tips for a stress-free travel experience. EIA expects the number of travellers to increase by 17 per cent in August, the busiest month of the year. CATSA and EIA will have advice for each step of the process, from packing and preparing for security screening to boarding your flight.

Intercepted items from passengers' carry-on baggage

 

CATSA is a Crown corporation responsible for:

  • Pre-board screening – the screening of passengers, their carry-on baggage and their personal belongings;
  • Hold-baggage screening – the screening of checked baggage;
  • Non-passenger screening – the random screening of non-passengers; and
  • Restricted Area Identity Card – the administration of access control to airport restricted areas through biometric identifiers.
