Health Symmetric's SocialCare Hires Bob Teague, MD, as Chief Medical Officer

Health-tech leader helps physicians connect patient and business information through the SocialCare platform

Health Symmetric, an emerging healthcare technology company based in Austin, today announced that it has hired healthcare and healthtech veteran Bob Teague, MD, as its Chief Medical Officer. Leveraging SocialCare™, the company's secure open API platform, Dr. Teague will work with payers and providers to help them achieve the intended purpose of value based care - increased quality, lowered costs, and improved satisfaction.

Dr. Teague brings a career spanning clinical practice in Houston's Texas Medical Center and leadership roles in technology to improve healthcare processes and outcomes through multiple entrepreneurial enterprises, major healthcare institutions, and Fortune 50 technology companies. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease, Dr. Teague's prior roles include VP of Clinical Transformation and Physician Services at Quorum Health and Managing Principle for Dell Healthcare Consulting. Before that, he was Corporate Medical Director at Compaq Computer Corp for 18 years including internal, product and market facing roles. He is a veteran of three healthcare services startups as founder and served in C-level roles in three turn around engagements including experience in the public markets.

Earlier this year, SocialCare earned the latest certification for bidirectional interoperability from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). Referred to as the "2015 Edition Health IT Module," the certification was conferred by The Drummond Group, an Authorized Certification Body that has been empowered to test software for compliance with the requirements of the federal government's program. SocialCare is the first platform to earn this most recent certification for both system-to-system interoperability via open APIs and also person-to-person interoperability through direct, secure email messaging.

Dr. Teague is the latest addition to the SocialCare team as the company has grown aggressively recently, hiring key executives, developers and other personnel, and is planning to more than double in size this year.
